Vendor misplaced item brought in for repairs. He has made no attempts to locate or replace the item.

Complainant applied for marriage and death certificates by express service. The certificates were not delivered on time so she requested a refund. After three weeks she had still not received the refund.

 

A full refund of $1,000.00   was given to the complainant within 12 days.

Complainant purchased fan and discovered that there were missing parts. The parts were supplied but fan is now malfunctioning. Vendor refused to replace the item.

 

The CAC was able to gain a full refund of $1,500.00 in one day.

Complainant tried to withdraw $8,000.00 from ATM machine but had difficulties and had to use another machine. Balance reflected $16,000.00 withdrawal. Bank refused to credit her the $8,000.00. 

 

The bank agreed to credit the complainant’s account with the full amount of $8000.00.

Complainant’s young son consumed contaminated bread that had a piece of metal and became ill. He was admitted to hospital with high fever and abdominal swelling. The doctor diagnosed tin poisoning which is now affecting his kidneys.

 

Compensation of $170,000.00 offered by the vendor was accepted by the complainant.

Complainant purchased stove, which rusted after a few months.   The offer to respray was rejected by the complainant who requested a replacement instead.

 

Full refund of $45,000.00 was offered within a week of CAC’s intervention.

Numerous digiflex phone cards purchased were invalid.

 

Vendor offered a full refund of $10,000.00 three days after the complaint was received by the CAC.

On receiving vehicle, the complainant noticed that the speedometer reading was 54119 km. and not 30722km as earlier indicated. Vendor refused to offer redress claiming that complainant could have cancelled at the time of purchase.

 

The vendor resisted but CAC persisted and eventually obtained a compensation offer of $50,000.00, which was accepted.

Landlord withheld security deposit. 

 

A full refund of $9,000 was given to complainant.

After purchasing electronic game, the complainant observed that the instructions were written in Spanish. She was offered a credit note but refused instead she demanded a cash refund but was denied same.

 

Within two days a full refund of $4,700.00 was offered.

Complainant purchased 50 lbs. of goat meat but observed it had 13 lbs of fat. She was only compensated for 10 lbs.

 

A refund of $264.00 was given for the extra three pounds.

Denture supplied did not fit. A second one also proved unsuitable.

 

Full Refund of $14,000.00 given.

Complainant ordered tiles after seeing a sample in the showroom.  Upon installation it was observed that the tiles were breaking easily.  On matching a sample with the ones delivered, they were found to be different.  Vendor unwilling to assist. 

 

Within a week of intervention a full refund of $121,612.00 was given to complainant.

Cellular phone valued at between US $150 - US $200 was sent overseas to be modified for compatibility with system in Jamaica. However, when the parcel arrived it was empty.

 

A settlement of $11,000 was offered & accepted.

Complainant opened three joint accounts for herself and children in August 1999. She recently discovered that her husband, from whom she is separated, withdrew funds from two of the accounts. He is not a signatory on any of the accounts.

 

Complainant was given a full refund of $26,000.

Complainant purchased vehicle that was assessed and insured as a 2001 model. The vehicle was recently involved in an accident and a claim was made on the insurance company who refused to honour the claim stating that it was a 1998 model.  

 

The claim of $2,200,000.00 was honoured.

Complainant completed payments on loan December 2003. However, on checking her statement she observed that she had overpaid.

 

A full refund of $32,500.00 was given.

Complainant purchased hair that she thought could curl but soon discovered that it was unable to do so. A request for a refund was denied.

 

The vendor agreed to offer a full Refund of $600 within one day.
